At the end of 2018 I decided to head out on Quest 09 to experience the Sahara Desert!
I took a flight from the Uk to Casablanca where I stayed one night before heading out by bus to the capital of Rabat then onward. I was traveling in a group of fantastic people and guided by a local who was able to take us to places that I wouldn’t have been able to go if I had been on my own.
One of the best parts for me of traveling around Morocco was seeing the people. Our guide grew up as a Nomad in the Atlas Mountains and because of that he took us to have tea with a nomadic tribe he knew who were just about to pack up their tents and move further up the mountains to avoid the snow.
Half way through the trip I was able to complete my quest of going to the Sahara desert , as well as completing all the side quest items : ride a camel, purchase something from Marrakesh, slide/run down a sand dune, visit Ait Benhaddou.
We trekked our camels out into the desert where we camped for the night under the stars and saw the sun set on top of a huge dune. It was a magical experience.
